Barn Baby
Why preachers and parents teach incorrectly three kings to find baby Jesus and Mary in a barn?
… vs biblical teaching? MATTHEW 2:09 On coming home they saw the child with Mary his mother, and fell down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Http: / / www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=47&chapter=2&version=31
In the original language of the story of her birth, Sukkot is described as the structure was born in. These are temporary structures built once a year during the Feast of Tabernacles and open on one side. Some call them cabins. They were, and are built to remind people to be lead through the desert for 40 years, then in the land milk and honey. Moreover, the shepherds left their flocks of sheep during the cold winter months, which is another indication he was not born in December. Ozzie and Harriet Aka Barn Swallows
And 'one of those stories that cover morning over a cup of coffee or sitting around with nothing to talk about. And for some unknown reason the story seems to be with you and is a fun thing to think.
Having grown up around barns and sheds and various other farm buildings, are naturally exposed to swallow. They were mostly ignored as some small, dark bird flying almost my head when I was trying to enter or leave a place that was not normally allowed to go as a child. I remember these birds nest around our barn, usually up quite high to avoid our excuse rather but very low in a cat.
As an adult, I thought often annoying little birds, but have been faithfully that one bird feeders around the yard. my family and I always enjoyed watching the many birds and especially the power of love hummingbirds. The swallows were little low on my list of birds to enjoy watching. And Actually I thought of them rarely except when I was besieged by low-flying squads of them chasing after bugs on top as I rode the riding mower. willingly gave their blessing silent to free my path of flying insects along my path, as I rarely came away from my job had not ingested some kind of bug.
I must describe our small farm to ensure that a full picture of history. The house is located outdoors, with several acres of surrounding land. There are woods behind the back of the yard and woods edge of the front yard and the street. It 's a fairly young house that was built on what was originally a corn field transformed into a small development. Each house has several acres surrounding it so that nobody is above the other. Space is very abundant.
The house has a small portion of the fenced yard to keep our dogs inside our borders. The garage is two car garage and half with four steps to the home. A door opens from the side of garages in the back yard whrere dogs are free to go.
After moving into this house, it was decided that the side door would remain open so that the big dog could come and go as he wanted. The garage would give her shade and shelter, if necessary, when they broke. This worked fairly good for our German Shepherd mix breed dog that had become the size of a small horse.
The garage has a massive door that opened with a trusty knife garage door. This system has worked well for the first year of life in the house. The dog was free to come and go as he wanted. The garage door open precisely when my husband or I work. E 'was great in bad weather to simply press the small button and zip fast car in his garage space.
The second summer to live in the house things began to change. I was at a Saturday, a sunny day. A great day to shake the throw rugs, air bases of the dog, to see the leaves blowing away into the woods. shaking of a carpet I was almost hit by a barn swallow dive bombing. A breath of twittering cry in my distance from the ear made me jump as you can so easily be surprised if in surprise.
I did not think much. I did my small job and went home continue my usual Saturday cleaning. By Tuesday of next week, the weather took a turn for the worse. Large storms that threaten began to move through the area with tornado warnings all over the place, including the county we lived in
I drove home from work through the ensuing monsoon, praying to the gods of good time to take note of my precarious trek. After finding that my car was perfectly capable, in most situations I was very surprised to find myself slipping here and there somewhere with the earth beneath me. Great heaps of mammoth puddles sitting waiting for traffic approaching on both sides of the road.
Survived the wrath of these lines of the water, I could not wait to be ensconced in our house. I picked up our street, pressing the on my dashboard to open the garage door. Nothing! I pushed the button again. Nothing! As our area had a history of the electric go I thought the storm had been cause.
I got off the car and stopped manually large garage door. At this point I have to admit that a few choice words came from my mouth, like all my clothes clung to my wet, cold skin. I pulled the car away and I noticed that the light was in the garage. The electricity was on. I tried the garage wall commands door opener and nothing happened. While I was searching the garage door opener was attacked me in my very big horse, wet, happy to see me, dog.
I was now, thanks not only soaked to the bone but I was covered with fresh mud in places where eyes would, in all manners, leave their eyes look. Good prevented it.
Muttering, I retrieved my things from the car, closed the garage door side and walked up the stairs to enter in our mudroom. It was then that the noise began. I turned and looked back toward the ceiling where it was attached garage door opener lights.
Sitting on top of light were two barn swallows. barn swallows noisy. I looked puzzled, slightly smilled were sort — skin. Then it occurred to my brain tired of working I had them closed garage. Oh dear. I opened the door for new large, manually. I took a broom to try to drive out of the garage swinging the broom in the air. They waved slightly, screamed a little 'me and then landed at separate ends of the garage, on top of long metal supports lifting the door open. I tried this many times without luck. They simply moved to another place, shouting at me all the time.
Having already had a bad day at work, I determined that this was not worth. I closed the door, opened the back door of the house and then I indulge in the hot water swurling of my bathroom.
I discussed the story garage at the table with my husband and decided that I should have remained silent on this topic. His laugh carried throughout the evening.
As the spring and summer progressed was determined that our house was chosen as a summer barn swallows'. How nice. ' was unable to get the 'garage door opener fixed to the fact that there was a bird's nest cottage built into the light.
I called a couple of swallows as Ozzie and Harriet (I know! My age shows with this chioce) .. It 'was rather fitting. As it turned out, the male swallow seemed to be the most peaceful of the two female and very vocal. We decided it was instructed on cleaning enough often.
The birds were quite vocal when disturbed from their place on top of the light. When I went outside them, is hunting for bugs on a regular basis and late in the dark. Of course the exterior garage light meals beautiful insects attracted to them. Not hungry.
And as things progressed it was not long before heads peered up from sides of the nest. Ozzie Harriet and proved to be very careful parents and was impressive when four heads peered up from the sides of the nest. Ozzie and Harriet show parents to be very careful and it was impressive when four little mouths open to voice their appreciation and are waiting to be fed every time a parent or another.
A few weeks later when I got home from work, I discovered the four chicks walking along the metal that has long held to the door. They could not fly yet, but they were out of the nest and all in a row. Ozzie was at one end of the row and Harriet the other end with the chicks in the middle. As had become my habit, I talked with the birds as I made my way to the stairs leading into the house. Crotch doggie happy my attention as I talked with the birds at the same time. I do not admit anyone my growing fascination of these little characters.
Over long time have been able to observe Ozzie and Harriet, who seemed to have different personalities. The birds have personalities? I wondered many times. Ozzie was a great family man. He tried, helped clean house, and secure home when necessary. Harriet was accurate, vocal, attentive and a great hunter. Both parents were attentive to their chicks.
A weekend was cleaning the house and I heard a loud commotion coming from the garage. The dogs were both outside in the yard, so I knew it was not their antics. I opened the mudroom door and saw our cat sitting on the step, in silence, watching the birds high above her.
Now, our cats are indoor cats. The closest the birds were found near the window as the birds feed at feeders. But the instinct was working in our wild cat, Hermione, and it was clear that he was developing a plan to stop chirping all over her.
I took the cat and put it back in, shut the door and turned around and said that Harriet was safe now. Then I noticed that there were four full-grown barn swallows who had come to the frantic cries of birds. One of the brids was Ozzie. flew to sit where the chicks were aligned in a row, huddled closely together in terror.
Ozzie began chirping me strong, calm Ozzie …
I apologized again and turned and went back inside. I watched from the mudroom to see what they would do the birds. Harriet did not move. where he was sitting watching the mudroom door, a guard, making sure enemies. Ozzie outswide flew together with other swallows. He soon returned with more food for chicks. Harriet still did not move. She did not take her eyes from the mudroom door. I checked that four hours later and she was still watching the door.
Ozzie coached the chicks back in the nest and stood silently next to it. Harriet still watched the door.
I went to bed.
The next couple of weeks, I paid little attention to the birds. One day I realized that the chicks were trying to fly. Many had down pat, but one was a bit 'slower. I told Harriet not to worry that every child has had its time zone to do things. You can not run the genius I said.
It was not long until the chicks were as large as their parents, who fly around and hunt with their parents and probably in trouble as all children done at one time or another.
The birds always come back to the nest at night with Ozzie and Harriet on guard on both sides of it. One evening I turned on the garage light and all six were lined up on metal stand and watch as I retrieved a piece of bread out of the freezer, we held there. birds smiled, turned and said goodnight, turned off the light and think about it.
Towards the end of the summer we saw the swallows coming and going. Younger children had left at home or so I thought. It was not long before I realized that two heads were few peeps on the edge of the nest again, only two this time. Time has flown yet time and soon the birds were very latest child expected each vocal cord. When they grew old enough, too, ended up walking along the metal support. Ozzie and Harriet, in turn, feed them.
I looked out the window mudroom as the chicks were fed, and soon realized that Ozzie and Harriet were not alone in their task. The first children were helping to take care of the newest chicks. E 'was great to see how all eight birds lined up along the metal support for the night. I thought it was adorable, but must admit that my husband grumbling about the mess they had earned. as cute as the young are fickle creatures, they leave a messy line Dodo bird. 'Was one line (thank goodness that was one of our cars) that began to irritate even the most time personality.
With the autumn and winter is the time came around and all the swallows had gone everywhere in winter, we decided to remove the nest and went to clean up the mess. Of course, this put a completely different picture of how the birds seemed pretty far.
nest of a bird is wet, full of rocks, folded fluff and who knows what … and say the dodo bird, easily cleaned, it is not true. After trying to keep up with them all their deposits summer was yet another chore of cleaning for me and my husband.
The following spring we started our usual cleaning of the garage from the mess of winter road salt and road dirt and whatever had accumulated during the long months of cold ice. We were bringing our glass patio table through the garage door when the big strong chirping began. We looked up and Ozzie and Harriet sat on the metal grill again. Harriet walked back and forth, almost walking near the nest site once was. They were obviously looking for.
I looked up and told them that we had removed. They continued to chirp at me and then flew on out the door wide. We laughed and continued with our affairs. Several weeks later, when I was taking a bag of trash, I realized that Harriet had returned and the beginnings of a nest was leaning on the wall high above the large garage door.
He looked at me and said that politedly that was certainly a better place to put nest. Boy was I wrong. The nest was built and it was not long before two heads popped up in the nest. And within a few weeks, and aggregation much to Ozzie and Harriet whenever the garage door was open, children were soon seen resting on the metal support beams near their parents.
One day I came home and a child was walking along the floor of garage and, of course, could not do anything else. It was still too young to fly. Harriet was having a hissy "fit and Ozzie was doing duty century, with strong chirps noisy.
I told Harriet, that every family has a son who will give him more problems than others and this little guy (or girl) was obviously will be their only annoying. I got the ladder out, went and got our biggest pan and dust corraled the bird on the pan. I climbed the ladder in the midst of screaming birds, taking care of the swallows dive bombing outside who had come to their aid. I tilted the pan until the small metal beam came back on and then went back down.
several weeks later I was glad to see that both children were well and were doing things that normal child swallows do, and chirp eat. They were the only children in the summer. Maybe Ozzie and Harriet was afraid to try again. One child was bad enough to deal with during the hot months.
Once the birds had disappeared in the late fall we took their last nest. And that was a mess. The entire length of the garage door was very decoreated Dodo bird with mud and wet and many other things we do not want to know. We tried to keep up with cleaning but somehow the birds seemed one step ahead of us.
The next spring, I was determined to keep the birds out of the garage. We kept the side door closed and put our dog's water bowl large (a large soup pot), just outside the door. leave during storms because he freaks ORTE with thunder and flash of lightning.
One day we were having severe storms and I came to bring the dog in the garage. As he came barreling through the door so did Ozzie and Harriet. They stood side by side on the metal beam, completely silent, just watching me. What should I do?
I gave up! Okay, I told them. You won! I held open the door again and within the next weeks a new nest on top appeared on our garage door opener. Surprise Surprise!
This time we have four chicks more to clean up after. Two more chicks appeared in the nest in late summer. We just had six chicks and Ozzie and Harriet rest every night on the metal support beams. They were themselves, as usual enthusiastic hunting bugs during the day and early evening. They also participated in the fleet of other swallows as we have shaved our area. The techniques of dive bombing was transmitted from one generation to another.
After the birds left in the late fall, we decided to leave the nest as it was. We still were not certain that would return to the same point the next spring. Of course, I secretly hoped that someone else had to bother next time. Cleanup was a challenge and it was getting to be a terrible task. Chirp from a small little creatures loose my side decided to keep the door closed.
The whole winter I was told that no would move when spring has arrived. I was determined to keep the side door closed. We kept the dog inside for the most part as it was almost fourteen years and the weather bothered sometimes. We gave her free will as he wanted to stay outside once the warmth of spring arrived. And the side door of the garage was closed most of the time.
I was looking forward to the summer heat. We had an exceptional amount of snow during the winter and warm sunshine was inviting. We kept a tight ship, ensuring the garage door every day, taking care that has been closed. No unwanted visitors could get at this time.
A week We had a visit from our teenage niece that I am sorry to say smoking. Being a non-smoking family, who want to smoke must go outside to smoke. opened the side door of the garage, One evening, while she had a smoke and left the door propped open.
The no! I forgot to tell you to leave the door closed. In the morning I was greeted by a duet loud chirping from Ozzie and Harriet. I must admit that a few choice words greeted them in return.
By the end of the week had completely renovated the existing nest. There was fresh mud, pieces of grass, feathers and a pretty old tape woven from the branches and things. They are presently sitting on top of new eggs and expect to see heads pop up side of the nest very soon.
As I tried to convince me that there is a thin line that crossed these little creatures, I know in my heart I will always yield to their demands. Year after year, as the seasons pass, I wonder if the birds that appear again and again.
A look at their little faces and a little quiet chirp is all you need. I must add that using what I call a quiet chirping. They will talk as we walk beneath them doing everything we need to do. Sometimes I feel they talk to us and I can not help but wonder if their evening conversations cover the same issues as ours.
Given that this spring turns into summer and we look forward to the summer we will adjust our lives once again to welcome Ozzie and Harriet and family and somehow we feel better with things in our busy lives.
